Asclepias (Klejicha) are mostly perennial direct herbs, mostly woody. The genus includes about 200 species, mostly from America. The leaves are simple, mostly accommodating, rarely alternating or whorled. The flowers are small to medium-sized and often strikingly colored, arranged in umbellate and mostly multi-flowered inflorescences. The chalice is five-fold and often glands inside. The calyx leaves are narrow, pointed and inverted. The crown is most often white, yellow-orange, pink, red or greenish.
