Lathyrus is a genus of annual or perennial herbs found in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and Aurbury. It is divided into about 150 species. It grows from mild climate to tropics. A plant with a glabrous, often branched, erect, creeping or creeping stem, which can reach a length of up to 4 m.
