Astilbe

Astilbe – A Romantic Cloud in Your Bouquet

Astilbe belongs to the saxifrage family (Saxifragaceae) and comes from East Asia and North America, where in gardens it loves shade and moisture as a perennial. In the world of cut flowers it has become a genuine hit. Its feathery, plume-like blooms look like colourful little clouds, bringing effortless lightness to any mixed bouquet.

What does it look like? Its blooms are not made of ordinary petals but of thousands of tiny “stars” on densely branched plumes. You will find it in shades from snowy white through powder pink to deep burgundy. It is exactly this texture that makes it a star of “boho” style and natural arrangements.

A symbol of patient waiting: In the language of flowers, Astilbe symbolises patience and devotion. It is said to be a flower for those who know that beautiful things are worth waiting for. Perhaps that is also why it is so popular for declarations of love.

Tip from Bára (Wedding Specialist): “Astilbe is an irreplaceable 'softener' to me. When I am creating wedding bouquets, I use it to break up the strict shapes of larger blooms like peonies or roses. But watch out – Astilbe is a thirsty lady. If the vase runs low on water, its plumes droop almost instantly. That is why at KvětinyExpres.cz we guarantee A1 quality and give the stems a good drink before they set off to you.”

Use in floristry: It is essential for romantic arrangements and as a luxury addition to any bouquet for special occasions. If you like arranging your own, you will find it in our cut flowers by the stem section – we do not offer it as a standalone item, you will always find it as an accent.
