Tip from florist Monika: "Every year, we eagerly await June, when Moravian growers deliver peonies directly to us. Our favourite is the 'Sarah Bernhardt' variety. There is nothing more beautiful than a bouquet of local peonies – their freshness, bloom size, and fragrance are absolutely incomparable to imported ones."

What you should know about peonies

Symbolism: Do you know what you are giving? The peony is a traditional symbol of luck, wealth, honour, and a happy marriage. That is also why it is one of the most popular wedding flowers.
Seasonality: They are the queens of the moment. Their main season is short and intense, usually lasting only from May to the end of June.
How to care for them: To make your peonies last as long as possible in the vase, cut the stems and place them in clean, cold water. Change the water daily and re-cut the stems. The key is not to leave them in direct sunlight.
Origin and facts: Peonies are long-living perennials originating from Asia and Europe. They are divided into herbaceous (which we sell for cutting) and woody (tree peonies).
