Short Christmas wishes (for a card, a text message or a note)

Sometimes less is more. These lines fit on a small card with a flower or in a message and still sound personal.

  • “Merry Christmas, full of joy, love and peace.”
  • “Happy holidays! May they bring calm to your soul and warmth to your heart.”
  • “Wishing you a magical Christmas and a year full of wishes come true.”
  • “Pause, breathe in and enjoy the magic. Merry Christmas!”
  • “May there be everything under your tree that really matters.”
  • “Peaceful days, a full table and an even fuller heart.”
  • “A Christmas like a fairy tale, and a year like a dream after it.”
  • “Holidays full of light, laughter and the people you love.”
  • “Peaceful Christmas and lots of strength for the new year.”
  • “May time stand still for you this Christmas.”
  • “Thank you for everything, and merry Christmas.”
  • “Merry Christmas and a happy new year!”

Classic and heartfelt Christmas wishes

When you want to write something nice, but not overly sweet. Good for the wider family, neighbours and acquaintances.

  • “We wish you Christmas full of peace, harmony and family love. May Santa bring you good health above all, and may the new year go well.”
  • “May the candles on your tree light up your soul, and may the new year bring you everything you wish for.”
  • “I wish you as much joy as fits under the tree, and as much luck in the new year as you can carry.”
  • “Christmas is loveliest when everyone who matters is at the table. I hope it is just like that this year.”
  • “The most beautiful lights are lit in the deepest dark. May they shine for you through the holidays and long after.”
  • “I wish you a Christmas atmosphere, the scent of pine and the feeling that you are exactly where you should be.”
  • “May there be peace under your tree, good food on the table and gratitude in your heart.”
  • “May Christmas hug you as warmly as you would hug the people you love.”

Christmas wishes for mum and dad

This is where we can get more personal. Attach the text to a big bouquet for your mum or to a gift basket for both parents.

  • For Mum: “Mum, thank you for every Christmas you made magical for me. I hope this year you don't have to worry about anything and can simply enjoy it. I love you very much.”
  • For Mum: “Mum, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without you. Thank you for the scent of cookies, the calm and the love. I wish you peaceful holidays.”
  • For Mum: “Mum, may this year's holidays bring you peace, health and many reasons to smile. Thank you for being you.”
  • For Dad: “Dad, thank you for being my support all year. I wish you relaxed holidays and good health in the new year.”
  • For Dad: “Dad, may you find everything you wished for under the tree, and may your favourite jokes never be missing at the table. Merry Christmas!”
  • For both: “Mum, Dad, thank you for the home full of love you created for us. I wish you a Christmas full of peace and health. I love you.”
  • For both: “Dear parents, thanks to you I know that Christmas is mostly about people. I wish you lovely holidays and many more together.”
  • For both: “Mum and Dad, you are the best gift I have ever received. Peaceful Christmas.”

Christmas wishes for grandma and grandpa

Grandparents appreciate sincere words most. Attach them to a flower they can keep on the table throughout the holidays.

  • “Grandma, Grandpa, we wish you lots of good health and cosy evenings in front of the Christmas films. Sending you a sweet hug!”
  • “Grandma, the scent of your Christmas kitchen means home to me. Thank you for everything and happy holidays.”
  • “Grandpa, thank you for the stories that are only told at Christmas. I wish you good health and may we all gather at the table.”
  • “Dear Grandma, may Christmas bring you peace, joy and the visits you look forward to. I'm so glad I have you.”
  • “Grandpa, may the holidays warm you as much as you warm us. Merry Christmas!”
  • “Grandma, Grandpa, your love is the best gift a family can get. We wish you peaceful and healthy holidays.”

Christmas plants with your wishes: poinsettia, amaryllis and Christmas cactus

A plant lasts longer than a bouquet and reminds them of you throughout the holidays. We print your message on a card for free, just paste the text into the note in your cart. We deliver Christmas plants in heated vehicles, so they don't catch a chill on the way. You can read how to care for them in our articles about the poinsettia, the amaryllis and the Christmas cactus.

Christmas wishes for a partner

For a message that belongs only to him or her. Short, sincere and with a touch of romance.

  • “You are the most beautiful gift I have ever received. I look forward to our Christmas together. I love you.”
  • “With you, Christmas makes sense. Thank you for a year full of love, and here's to many more.”
  • “I don't need anything under the tree except you. Merry Christmas, my love.”
  • “May our Christmas be calm, smell of cookies and be full of moments together. I love you.”
  • “Thank you for sharing every day with me, not only the festive ones. Merry Christmas, my love.”
  • “Your hug is my favourite Christmas decoration. Merry Christmas!”
  • “A year with you passes faster than I can unwrap presents. Here's to many more Christmases together.”
  • “May you feel as good by our tree as I feel next to you.”

Christmas wishes for children

For children around you, grandchildren or friends' kids. Simple, with a touch of magic.

  • “Dear [Name], I wish you a Christmas full of magic, snow and stories. May at least one big wish come true.”
  • “May you find under the tree everything you wished for, and take from Christmas mostly joy and memories.”
  • “Dear children, may Christmas bring you joy in every little thing and may you never stop looking forward to it.”
  • “Hi [Name], I'm sending you a little Christmas magic. Enjoy the holidays and don't forget the cookies.”
  • “May Santa bring you everything you long for, and may you always have people around you who love you.”

Christmas wishes for friends

For people you can talk to without ceremony. Feel free to add a shared memory.

  • “Dear [Name], thank you for being with me all year. I wish you a Christmas you will remember fondly.”
  • “I hope you have time over the holidays for everything you enjoy, and none for anyone who holds you up. Merry Christmas!”
  • “Friends are like Christmas lights – without them it's cold. Thank you for shining. Happy holidays!”
  • “May Christmas bring you peace, and may we soon meet over something good. I'm really looking forward to it!”
  • “Even though we are far apart, you are in my thoughts. Peaceful Christmas, and see you soon.”
  • “Thank you for all the moments we shared this year. May the next one bring even more.”
  • “You are someone I can always rely on. I wish you holidays when you don't have to worry about anything.”
  • “As long as we have each other, Christmas is complete. Happy holidays!”

Funny Christmas wishes

Do you have a friend who cares less about sentiment than about a joke? More ideas are in a separate article, funny Christmas wishes.

  • “Dear [Name], may your tree be beautiful, your schnitzel crisp and may you escape the reindeer jumper this year! Merry Christmas!”
  • “The Christmas diet starts in January! So I wish you a pile of cookies, a carp without bones and presents that won't fit under the tree.”
  • “May your Santa be generous, your carp boneless and your New Year's Eve without consequences. Happy holidays!”
  • “May neither the lights on your tree nor your nerves at the table spark this year. Peaceful Christmas!”
  • “I hope you come back from the holidays rested. And if that doesn't work, at least with a full belly.”
  • “The holidays are the time when everyone smiles and nobody counts calories. Enjoy it!”
  • “May Santa bring you lots of presents and not too much potato salad for tomorrow and the day after.”
  • “Christmas miracle alert: today you can eat anything and none of it counts. Merry Christmas!”

Christmas wishes for colleagues and employees

For the office and the team. Good with a gift or with flowers for the desk, for example from our offer of flowers for companies.

  • “Dear colleagues, thank you for a great year full of cooperation! We wish you holidays full of rest and a successful start to the new year.”
  • “Dear colleagues, thank you for your support, patience and the laughter in the office. Peaceful Christmas, and may the new year be even better.”
  • “May the last working day of the year be full of good food, no emails and lots of smiles. Merry Christmas!”
  • “Thank you for the year we got through together. I wish you a peaceful Christmas, lots of energy and time with your family.”
  • “May only the bells on the tree ring over the holidays, not a phone call from work. Merry Christmas!”
  • “Thank you to the team for every day when it was a pleasure to come to work. Rest and recharge.”
  • From management to employees: “Dear colleagues, thank you for your commitment and the work you have done. I wish you a peaceful Christmas and a chance to recharge.”
  • To the boss: “Dear Director, thank you for the opportunity and support over the past year. We wish you peaceful holidays and much success in the new year.”

Formal Christmas wishes for clients and business partners

For a more official setting: clients, suppliers, partners. A formal and restrained tone.

  • “Dear colleagues and business partners, thank you for your trust and cooperation this year. We wish you a peaceful Christmas and much success in the year ahead.”
  • “We wish you and your loved ones a peaceful Christmas and many personal and professional successes in the coming year.”
  • “Dear clients, thank you for being with us. We wish you a joyful Christmas and good health.”
  • “At the end of the year we would like to thank you for good cooperation. May the holidays bring you rest and the new year new opportunities.”
  • “With thanks for the cooperation, we wish you a peaceful Christmas and a lot of joy in the new year.”
  • “Thank you for your loyalty. May Christmas bring you peace and the new year the fulfilment of all your plans.”
  • “For the new year we wish you good health, much business and personal success and constant joy in your work.”
  • “Thank you for a cooperation we value. We wish you Christmas among your loved ones and a successful start to the new year.”

Christmas bouquets to go with your message

A paper card is nice, but flowers touch the heart. Don't believe it? We even have a bouquet called Christmas Wish, which combines a Christmas amaryllis with an elegant arrangement, so your wish arrives literally in flower form. You will find more in the category Christmas flowers and bouquets.

Short Christmas poems

Rhymed wishes are easy to remember and fit on a card in just a few lines.

  • “May Christmas bring you what you need,
and fill your home with joy indeed.”
  • “Snow is falling, candles glow,
may happiness in your heart grow.”
  • “Peaceful days and cosy nights,
    warm hearts and twinkling lights.”
  • “May the Christmas star shine bright,
and the new year bring you light.”
  • “Presents under the tree, cookies on the plate,
may your Christmas be merry and your joy be great.”

Christmas wishes at a distance: texts and messages

For those you can't hug in person. Send a message, or better still add flowers that arrive with your text.

  • “Sending you a Christmas hug from afar. Peaceful holidays and see you soon!”
  • “Even though we are not together, you are with me by the tree. Merry Christmas, I look forward to seeing you.”
  • “Christmas without you is not the same, but I'm thinking of you all through the holidays. Merry Christmas!”
  • “Hi, I wish you peaceful holidays, lots of good food and calm. I'll be in touch after the holidays!”
  • “Happy holidays! May everything you wish for come true. Keep in touch.”
  • “Last message before Christmas: thank you for the whole year. Enjoy the holidays and recharge your batteries.”

Christmas wishes for those who miss someone

Christmas can be hard for those who have lost someone. Such a wish should not be festive, but gentle. If you want to express sympathy with flowers, take a look at funeral flowers and wreaths.

  • “I'm thinking of you. I know this Christmas won't be easy. I'm here whenever you want to talk or just be silent.”
  • “May the candle on the tree warm your heart today, and may memories bring you more smiles than tears.”
  • “Some people have left our Christmases, but the love stays. I'm sending you a hug and wishing you a peaceful holiday.”
  • “I wish you peaceful holidays with room for remembering. You are in my thoughts.”
  • “You are not alone. I wish you a Christmas full of calm and people who care about you.”

Christmas wishes with a New Year greeting

Want to combine Christmas and the New Year in one wish? You will find more in the article New Year wishes for friends and family.

  • “Merry Christmas and a happy new year! May every wish of yours come true.”
  • “For the new year I wish you health, happiness and many reasons to be glad.”
  • “May Christmas stretch into a calm new year in which you and your loved ones do well.”

Christmas wish with a bouquet – a card with your message for free

How to write your own Christmas wish: 5 simple rules

  • Address them personally. A name or nickname only you two use turns a sentence into your wish.
  • Write one specific thing. Thanks for something that happened this year feels warmer than a general “all the best”.
  • Keep it short. Two or three sentences fit on a card, longer text belongs in a letter.
  • Choose the tone. With family and friends use the informal, playful voice; with clients and partners stay formal and restrained.
  • Add your own sentence. To our samples add, for example: “I remember our summer barbecue – looking forward to the next one!” A small detail turns a universal wish into a personal treasure.

What to send with the wish? Florists' recommendations

You have the text, but a text message alone won't bring the magic of Christmas.

Tip from florist Bára:

"A paper card tucked into a bouquet carries a completely different weight than a message on a screen. It is a tangible memory."
