The name "gladiolus" is derived from the Latin word gladius (sword).
-
Strength and Victory: In ancient Rome, it was a symbol of strength and victory. Victorious gladiators were showered with these flowers.
-
Sincerity and Character: Gifting a gladiolus expresses admiration for strength of character and sincerity.
-
Remembrance: It is also a flower that symbolizes the memory of a strong personality.
Tip from Jana (Our Specialist in large arrangements): "For me, Gladiolus is unbeatable for decorating large spaces and for corporate service. Its vertical line is dominant and immediately creates a festive feel. In season (July-September), we source gladioli from trusted Czech growers, which guarantees maximum freshness."
How to care for cut Gladiolus? Jana advises: "To make it last, it needs plenty of water. The flowers bloom sequentially from the bottom up. For the longest life, I recommend removing the lower, faded flowers and slightly trimming the stem every two days. This gives strength to the upper buds."
