If you buy peonies for a vase, follow these 3 rules:

1. Wash the buds (The secret to success): If your peonies arrive in tight buds and feel sticky to the touch from natural nectar, gently rinse the heads under lukewarm water. This removes the sticky layer and helps them open into full bloom much faster.

2. Slanted cut: Before placing them in the vase, cut the stems at an angle by 2–3 cm with a sharp knife.

3. Lots of water: Peonies are huge "drinkers". Give them a large vase full of clean, cold water and do not forget to change and top it up regularly.
