Daisies and Meadow Bouquets

Tip From Our Florist Andrea (Natural-Style Specialist): "Customers often want a clean bouquet of daisies, as if it had just been picked in a meadow. But real meadow flowers wilt very quickly in a vase. That's why we tie our bouquets using premium chamomile and Santini chrysanthemums instead. They look absolutely identical to field daisies, but easily stay fresh for 14 days! So these delicate blooms don't suffer temperature shock on the way to you, we deliver them exclusively in our air-conditioned Airway vehicles, constantly kept in water."

The Florist's Secret: What Belongs in a Meadow Bouquet?

To make a bouquet look like it's straight from a meadow, yet last as long as a cultivated flower (for which our owner Monika guarantees the highest A1 quality, sourced directly at the Dutch flower auction), we use the best alternatives:

"Daisies" (Santini and Tanacetum): The foundation of every relaxed arrangement is tiny Santini chrysanthemums (white with a coin-sized center) and the popular Tanacetum chamomile. A perfect example of this style is our lush daisy basket.
Baby's breath (Gypsophila): Gives the bouquet a signature airiness and romantic lightness.
Eustoma and spray roses: Provide the needed volume, pastel colors, and relaxed wildness.
Greenery: Airy grasses and grain heads to get as close as possible to the countryside style.

When to Give a "Daisy" Bouquet?

This natural meadow style doesn't belong at formal balls, but it's an absolute hit for these occasions:

  • Weddings (Boho style): Weddings in nature and at country estates are hugely popular. The combination of daisies (Santini), baby's breath, and eucalyptus is a trend that reliably brings a smile to a bride's face.

  • A bouquet just for joy: It feels light, cheerful, and easygoing. It can instantly brighten anyone's day when you surprise them with it.

  • For romantic souls: If a woman doesn't prefer strict, polished arrangements of red roses, a meadow mix with daisies will win her over completely.

How to Care for a Meadow Bouquet?

Caring for these summer arrangements is very easy and guarantees you long-lasting enjoyment:

  1. Water: Change the water every 2–3 days. Thanks to the very hardy Santini varieties, the water spoils much more slowly.

  2. Leaves: Strip off all the lower leaves so they never rot below the waterline.

  3. Cutting: Trim the stems at an angle every time before placing them in fresh water, ideally with a clean, sharp knife.

History and Origin (A Fun Fact to Finish)

Did you know the classic daisy has a very rich history? It began being deliberately cultivated in England as far back as 1890. It's also interesting that the flower discovered by the Scotsman Robert Jameson in Africa (which looks like a large, beautifully colored daisy) is actually the beloved gerbera. Today, it too is a wonderful and highly long-lasting alternative for cheerful summer bouquets.
