Valentine's Bouquets: How to Choose the Right One

Saint Valentine's Day (February 14th) is a day when the air trembles with love. Whether you love this holiday or just see it as a chance to make your partner happy, one thing is certain: flowers are mandatory on this day.

But which ones to choose? Does it always have to be red roses, whose price shoots up every February? Our florists have put together a guide to save you both stress and money.

1. Roses: A Classic That Never Disappoints

Say "Valentine's Day" and everyone pictures red roses. They're the unofficial queen of this holiday.

  • Symbolism: A red rose means passion and deep love. It's a gesture that needs no words.

  • Alternatives: If you've been together only a short while, choose pink roses instead (tenderness, romance). For a modern, elegant impression, try white roses, or a combination with lilies, which lend the bouquet a regal fragrance.

Tip from experience: "Valentine's Day is the most demanding day of the year for rose growers. Demand is enormous worldwide, which is why rose prices climb at auction. If you want to save money while still impressing, try option number 2."

2. Tulips: A Fresh, Spring-Like Choice

Many women prefer tulips in February. Why? Because after a long winter, they symbolise the arrival of spring.

  • Advantage: They're cheerier, more colourful and often more affordable than premium red roses.

  • Tip: A bouquet of 50 red or pink tulips looks absolutely stunning and original.

3. Original Choices: Gerberas and Freesias

Want to stand out from the crowd?

  • Gerberas: Playful, with large blooms, expressing sincerity.

  • Freesias: If your partner loves fragrance, freesias are the obvious choice. Their delicate, soapy scent is unmistakable.

  • Flower boxes: Roses in a box are a huge hit. They're practical (no need to find a vase) and look luxurious.

Bouquets for Joy

How Many Flowers Should You Give?

The size of the bouquet matters less than the timing.

  • A new relationship: A smaller, understated bouquet is enough (e.g. 7–9 roses) or a spring mix.

  • A long-term relationship: Here you can go for a big gesture. A bouquet of 100 roses is an experience for a lifetime.

Important: Don't Leave It to the Last Minute!

Valentine's Day is a day when our couriers never stop. Delivery capacity is limited.

  • Order in advance: We recommend ordering flowers at least 2–3 days ahead. This secures you the best delivery time and the pick of the most beautiful flowers.

  • Delivery to work: Want her colleagues to be envious? Have a bouquet sent straight to her office. That moment of surprise is priceless.

Don't forget to add a personal message. We'll attach a card with your declaration to the bouquet for free.
