Pistacia (botanically Pistacia lentiscus, cashew family – Anacardiaceae) is a genuinely key ingredient for us at KvětinyExpres.cz. While it does not play the role of the main flower, it is exactly what gives a bouquet its “skeleton,” volume, and freshness. We love this evergreen shrub from the Mediterranean for its small, leathery leaves and remarkable staying power.
What it looks like and what makes it unique: Lentiscus forms dense little branches with oval, dark green leaves that have a natural sheen. If you cut a branch, you will catch a gentle, balsamic scent reminiscent of resin. This very plant is the source of rare mastic, harvested on the Greek island of Chios.
