Ranunculus – The "Peony" that Greets You First
At KvětinyExpres.cz, the Ranunculus (Ranunculus asiaticus) is the undisputed king of early spring. Customers often call it the "Spring Peony" due to its lush, full blooms made of hundreds of tissue-thin, almost translucent petals. Despite its delicate appearance, it is one of the hardiest spring flowers.
Appearance and Characteristics: Ranunculus unfolds from a tight bud into a perfect, spherical flower reminiscent of a ruffled skirt. Our color palette in February and March is nearly infinite—ranging from snowy white and powder pink to deep burgundy and unconventional green varieties.
Symbolism of Charm: In the language of flowers, Ranunculus says: "You are charming." This is why, alongside tulips, it is a staple for International Women's Day flowers. It is a gift that conveys admiration for both feminine grace and inner strength.
Florist Bára’s Tip (Design Expert): "Ranunculus is my absolute favorite for high-end spring bouquets. It has one secret: the stem is hollow and fragile. To make it last as long as possible in a vase, cut it with a very sharp knife (avoid scissors, which can crush the stem) and don't give it too much water—5–10 cm is plenty. With the right care, it will reveal layer upon layer of beauty day by day. It also stands out beautifully in our seasonal arrangements."
✦ Usage at KvětinyExpres.cz: Ranunculus is the heart of our mixed bouquets and romantic designs. Due to its longevity and charm, it’s also a top choice for wedding floristry. Browse our full selection on the Ranunculus page.
