Crocus – spring's messenger, arriving before the snow is gone
At KvětinyExpres.cz, the crocus is one of spring's first greetings – it often blooms before the last snow has even left the garden. Its cup-shaped flowers in rich colours are a small but unmistakable sign that winter is on its way out.
Facts that will win you over:
- A relative of saffron: One of its close relatives, Crocus sativus, is the source of saffron – the world's most expensive spice, hand-picked from its stigmas.
- A colourful palette: Crocuses bloom from white and yellow through to deep purple, often with delicate veining on the petals.
- Symbolism: It represents youthful joy, cheerfulness and new beginnings – a lovely gift to welcome spring or celebrate a new baby.
- Season: The main crocus season here runs from February to April.
Florist Míša's tip: "I love crocuses gathered into small, dense bunches – we sell crocus as a flowering potted plant rather than a cut flower - once cut, it wilts very quickly. In a pot, though, it stays beautiful for two to three weeks if you keep it somewhere cool, out of direct sun, and water it regularly. Its main season runs from February to April. Take a look at our crocus, currently in our range."
