Unlike the more familiar bigleaf hydrangea, the panicle hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata) is a true garden workhorse – it tolerates full sun, is fully frost-hardy, and its cone-shaped flower panicles gradually turn pink to red over summer and autumn. This XL size is already well established and makes an impact in the garden or a large terrace pot right from planting.

In spring I cut it back by about a third, water it through summer, and I'm rewarded with huge white panicles that turn pink on their own by late summer. This larger size is great if you want an established-looking shrub in the garden right away instead of waiting years for it."
