This is one of the most common questions I get from brides. There's no hard rule, but here's the tried-and-tested standard:

Mothers and grandmothers: A corsage is a lovely gesture for the couple's mothers. A wrist corsage is usually chosen so it doesn't get in the way, or a smaller version to pin onto the dress (if the cut allows).

Tips From Florist Bára: How to Choose the Right One?
When choosing a corsage and boutonniere, think about these 4 points:
1. Coordinate it! The groom's lapel flower should always match the bride's bouquet. Think of it as a "little brother" to her bouquet. The rest (for fathers, the best man) should match the wedding's overall style.
2. Durability is key A corsage needs to survive an entire day without water, often in the heat, and withstand plenty of hugs. Choose hardy flowers. Great options include roses, calla lilies, carnations, orchids, lisianthus, or statice. Very delicate flowers (like lily of the valley), on the other hand, wilt quickly without water.
3. Watch the size and weight Nobody wants to wear a "flowerpot" on their lapel. A boutonniere needs to be light and understated, so it doesn't drag the lapel down. A wrist corsage shouldn't get in the way at the table. Less is often more here.
4. How is it pinned on? A man's boutonniere is traditionally pushed through the lapel buttonhole (not just pinned onto it). We always supply our boutonnieres with special pins. A woman's wrist corsage is attached to an elegant ribbon or a pearl bracelet.
