A Tip From Florist Monika (Quality and Transport):
"The biggest mistake beginners make is buying a houseplant at a hardware store garden center in winter or early spring, then carrying it to the car through freezing cold. Tropical plants (like Zamioculcas or Dracaena) get a massive temperature shock and out of nowhere start dropping leaves at home. You never risk that with us. We transport plants with our Airway service in heated vehicles, and carefully packaged, they arrive at your door in perfect condition."

1. Zamioculcas – The Nearly Indestructible Elegant One
If any plant deserves a gold medal for toughness, it's Zamioculcas. Its glossy, dark green leaves look very modern in an interior.
-
Why get it? It survives even extended drought (it has underground tubers that act as a water reservoir), and it doesn't mind dry air from heating either. Ideal for the office.
-
Beginner care: Water only once the substrate is completely dry. In winter, watering just once a month is plenty.
2. Snake Plant (Sansevieria) – Sculptural Beauty
A design classic with firm, sword-shaped leaves that's once again at the peak of popularity among interior designers.
-
Why get it? It's an absolute champion at air purification. It produces oxygen even at night, making it a fantastic choice for the bedroom. It's also extremely drought-tolerant.
-
Beginner care: Adapts to partial shade or direct sun. Water very sparingly to avoid root rot.
3. Spider Plant (Chlorophytum) – The Spider Champion
Who doesn't remember this from their grandmother's apartment? The spider plant is a rewarding, very fast-growing classic.
-
Why get it? It grows fast and doesn't need any special substrate. It's easy to propagate, since it produces little "babies" on its runners.
-
Our tip: It's absolutely ideal for hanging pots or tall shelves, where its trailing runners really stand out.
4. Pothos – The Fast-Growing Vine
An extremely rewarding climbing plant that will soon create a lush green cascade in your living room.
-
Why get it? It grows practically before your eyes. You can let it climb a trellis, or let it hang freely from a bookshelf.
-
Beginner care: It forgives mistakes. It tells you it needs water by letting its leaves droop slightly. As soon as you water it, it perks right back up.
5. Dracaena – A Little Palm Tree for Your Living Room
Want to add a touch of the exotic to your home? A Dracaena on a trunk resembles a miniature palm tree.
-
Why get it? It's great as a striking floor solitaire that fills empty corners of a room.
-
Beginner care: It likes bright but indirect light. It appreciates an occasional misting of its leaves with a spray bottle (especially in winter, when the heating is on and the air is dry).
The golden rule (not just) for beginners: Most houseplants in Czech households aren't killed by drought, but by the opposite — too much care, specifically overwatering. Roots in waterlogged soil can't breathe and start to rot. Before you reach for the watering can, stick a finger into the soil. If it's still moist, feel free to put off watering for another day or two!
